Justice for Breonna Taylor
Breonna Taylor — it shouldn’t have been violence that made her famous.
A household name she became when blue bullets laid claim to her vulnerable frame.
In so doing, three officers declared that her black life was not worth the same as theirs.
And then to our nation’s shame, justice was denied in the face of great pain.
"Wanton endangerment" was all it was called, meaning our government had the balls to pay more respect to her neighbor’s walls.
They cared more for the plaster than the precious blood splattered in those halls.
How can we survive this unwanted undressing of our twisted morality?
In this case, our so-called saved society is the true indictee.
Another holy vessel broken and poured out at our feet.
How can those officers sleep at night knowing that they defaced the face of God?
And yet, the deity in she will not be silenced.
Their fake news will not shut out the truth.
Breonna Taylor’s life was stolen from her, from her family, from her friends, and from all of us.
The mark of Cain remains on those to blame, and we will continue to Say Her Name.
